HK97 (I) Just a Dumb Virus

Material used: Metal, wood and vinyl

HK97 is a benign virus with a very complex skew geometry of proteins on its icosahedral capsid head. This is a type of highly efficient geodesic dome that was popularized by Buckminster Fuller and has special mathematical and strength properties. Surrounding the sculpture are four panels showing the deconstruction of the skew geometry of the proteins on the capsid head.

Why would a virus go to such trouble if not to thumb its nose at dumb humans, who believe these most successful of creatures are not even alive, and who cannot see something right under their noses?
