MORE THAN THE MICROBIOME, the knowledge that bacteria are intimately and continuously guiding the ship of life is profound. Humanity’s hubris has barely recovered from Darwin, let alone these microbial hijackings. “The force that through the green fuse drives the flower Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees Is my destroyer.” (Dylan Thomas).
