FRAGMENT FROM NATURE covers the topic of finding the function of genes. Structure, it turns out, is not enough to denote function. Context and interactions are what determine function. Interactions between gene products, and later post-translational modifications can amplify and determine functionality. The picture is far more complex than sequence alone. It is in this meta sense that diversity arises from a relatively limited hand of cards.
