This exquisite exotic white orchid flower, Habenaria radiata, resembles graceful white egrets in flight, and is pollinated by beautiful nocturnal Hawkmoths. Their showy display signals their presence to the pollinator. The Hawkmoth is also called a sphinx moth, which since it coevolved with this flower, matches the mythology of the flower. According to legend, the soul of a white egret that died was reborn as the much-loved white egret orchid.
