INTERPRETATION. “H.A. Lorentz preferred the view that there is indeed a state of “real” rest, defined by the aether (now by the cosmic microwave background radiation) though it could not (then) be identified experimentally. In Bell’s words: “the facts of physics do not oblige us to accept one philosophy rather than the other”.”
