KILONOVAS. “When two neutron stars (bodies so incredibly dense that a teaspoon of neutron star weighs around a whopping 1 billion tons) collided, they created an extremely bright blast, called a kilonova. Astronomers suspect important elements and metals are forged in these blasts, like gold and platinum. It is one of the proposed predominant sites for the heavier elements in the universe. “
