This was a practice piece made during a stucco class taught by professional stucco restorer Sarah Mayfield in Brighton, England. Stucco became a Renaissance art form for in the hands of the Italians, who experimented with adding marble dust to their creations. Unlike stone sculpture which is reductive, stucco is an additive method and can be molded.
