The Green Fuse

Material used: Wood, epoxy, EVA foam and metal.

This is a conceptual sculpture based on both the eponymous poem by the great poet Dylan Thomas and matched by  Darwin’s greatest quote. Thomas’s poem is profoundly biological. My interpretation pushes this theme: Nature is pegged upon an invisible mathematical grid, indicated by the numbers 0-9, and built from simple monomer units that are self-similar at different scales. The numbers are constructed from identical monomer units and the cellular motifs become fractal as the sculpture is ascended.
