EXPECT DISAGREEMENT. "There is no such thing as consensus science. If it's consensus, it isn't science. If it's science, it isn't consensus. Period.” https://lnkd.in/dZqxxrU View in LinkedIn
SWARM NATURE OF INTELLIGENCE. “The cognitive science definition or explication of intelligence is analogous to this explication of multiplication. Intelligent capacities are understood via decomposition into a network of less intelligent capacities, ultimately grounded in totally mechanical capacities executed by primitive processors.” https://lnkd.in/dVrhMkP View in LinkedIn
MACHINE CONSCIOUSNESS. “The main views expressed by the participants appear to be: human-level machine intelligence, whether due to a de novo AGI or biologically inspired/emulated systems, has a macroscopic probability to occurring mid-century. This development is more likely to occur from a large organisation than as a smaller project. The consequences might be potentially catastrophic, but there is great disagreement and uncertainty about this – radically positive outcomes are also possible.” https://lnkd.in/dZ99z7V View in LinkedIn
"WHAT IS THOUGHT? Baum proposes that underlying mind is a complex but compact program that corresponds to the underlying structure of the world. He argues further that the mind is essentially programmed by DNA." https://lnkd.in/dBwDZAr View in LinkedIn
FRAGMENT FROM NATURE considers the cell interior, that jelly called protoplasm. Once thought to be a homogeneous colloid where biochemical reactions are simply random collisions, it became clear that this jelly is highly structured. Complex chemistry needs compartments, and protoplasm organizes these reactions. Protoplasm is the common material that is poured from jug to jug across generations, the same for a plant as a person, flowing across time. View in LinkedIn
ETYMOLOGY AND USE. “The word "protoplasm" comes from the Greek protos for first, and plasma for thing formed, and was originally used in religious contexts. It was used in 1839 by J. E. Purkinje for the material of the animal embryo. Later, in 1846 Hugo von Mohl redefined the term (also named as Primordialschlauch, "primordial utricle") to refer to the "tough, slimy, granular, semi-fluid" substance within plant cells, to distinguish this from the cell wall and the cell sap (Zellsaft) within the vacuole.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protoplasm View in LinkedIn
WHAT IS PROTOPLASM? “The protoplasm of a cell consists of nucleus, cell membrane and cytoplasm. Thus, cytoplasm is a part of the protoplasm of a cell. Cytoplasm is not different from protoplasm but a part of it.” https://lnkd.in/duwHJ4Q View in LinkedIn
