PURE ENERGY. “The magnetotail plasma sheet is a highly dynamic and structured region. Plasma flows in this region are not laminar, and during most times the net Earthward plasma flow imposed by the large-scale convection pattern is composed of short-lived (1–10 min) bursts of fast flow while the ambient plasma velocity distribution is very nearly isotropic.” https://link.springer.com/article/10.12942/lrsp-2007-1 View in LinkedIn

SOLAR PLASMAS. “As the magnetospheric activity conditions are largely controlled by the stability properties of the cross-tail current sheet, and as the magnetotail current sheet shares many of the properties of dynamically important current sheets found e.g. in the solar plasmas, the dynamics of the cross-tail current has been intensively studied in recent years.” https://link.springer.com/article/10.12942/lrsp-2007-1 View in LinkedIn

PURE MAGNETISM. “As the IMF turns southward, dayside reconnection changes the conditions at the magnetospheric boundaries and begins to increase the open flux content in the magnetotail. In order to maintain pressure balance between the plasma sheet plasma pressure and the lobe magnetic pressure, the cross-tail current intensifies and the plasma sheet is compressed.” (IMF= interplanetary magnetic field). https://link.springer.com/article/10.12942/lrsp-2007-1 View in LinkedIn

FRAGMENT FROM NATURE continues from last time and concludes this weekend with an article by Russian scientists on the finding of microbes outside the International Space Station. After this was first announced there was a five year gap before this publication emerged; the reason was that they were being very thorough in confirming numerous times their findings. In my view, this is a landmark publication for humanity. View in LinkedIn

SIMILAR TO TERRESTRIAL ORGANISMS. “Phylogenetic dendrogram (Figure 4) shows that the DNA sequence discovered in samples of cosmic dust has 93% identity with two of the five Mycobacteria sequences found in the samples from the marine surface micro layer and marine aerosol in the Russian Western Arctic.” https://lnkd.in/dNHWs6R View in LinkedIn
