ALL MATTER COMPUTES. “What is the difference between a computer and a black hole? This question is not a joke, but is an intriguing problem in modern physics. The reason can be traced to the fact that all physical systems are computers. Every elementary particle stores bits of data, and every time two such particles interact, those bits are transformed. Black holes are merely the most exotic example of the general principle that the universe registers and processes information.” https://www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/21/11/1035/htm View in LinkedIn

IT IS BIT. “The principle is not new. In the 19th century, the founders of statistical mechanics developed what would later be called information theory to explain the laws of thermodynamics. The key player in information theory is entropy S, the macroscopic thermodynamic quantity characterizing disorder.” https://www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/21/11/1035/htm View in LinkedIn

FRAGMENT FROM NATURE this weekend is from an unusual source but caught my attention. The question posed was “Does everything in the universe connect?”. Many people think this is true but finding serious-minded articles on the topic has proved challenging. This one response by somebody claiming to be a (unpublished) quantum physicist but with very little footprint on the web seemed to me to be quite profound: is it brilliance or complex stupidity? https://lnkd.in/eGcaKNch View in LinkedIn
