At the end of the day, the Crisis may have brought some fiscal and portfolio discipline, which is positive. A hugely valuable discussion topic, with no really clear answers (for me), no one size fits all. Different cultures, different industries, call for different solutions. At the end of the day, a board supplies at least two things: governance (accountability), and fresh strategic eyes on difficult, and evolving, problems. Perhaps a menu of options for different business environments would be most helpful.
