FRAGMENT IN NATURE this weekend, and for at least next weekend, will focus on the connection between the microbiome, taste, satiety and health. Given that taste receptors around the body are key to satiety and diet selection, it seems likely that the microbiome would have evolved to play a role in controlling that system. View in LinkedIn

THE ORAL MICROBIOME is a stable community of microorganisms, despite the daily intrusions of personal hygiene, food and fluid intake. A healthy oral microbiome leads to healthy oral health, and dysbiosis or disbalance causes gingivitis and other problems. Anecdotally, a sexual partner with a healthy oral microbiome can confer this on their partner, even if the partner's microbiome is unhealthy.
