THE FEAR OF AI IS A BIOLOGICAL QUESTION. Whether AI is an existential threat to humanity rests on a single question: can complex systems of innate materials gain the properties of living things, namely evolution, independence of reproduction, communication amongst themselves, and autonomy of intent? These are questions of the transition from complex chemicals to the first life. Fear of AI assumes its transition from complexity to autonomy and dominance over man.
