SUPPRESSION. “Recombination suppression may involve inversions, for instance in mammals. Other kinds of chromosomal rearrangements, including translocations, can also suppress recombination. Translocations involving sex chromosomes are known in several species, and could be advantageous because they cause linkage between autosomal and sex-linked genes.”
