ARTIFICIAL LIFE (A-LIFE): the world’s first artificial cell was created by Venter in 2010, a monumental landmark; Venter’s audacious dream of “creating new life forms that never existed before” is now feasible. For him, this means useful bugs that can make biofuels or degrade toxic pollutants. But it could include more bizarre Lego Life Forms, limited only by our imaginations.
