THE PILOT PEN from Tokyo is my favorite writing instrument, and popular worldwide. However, on more than one occasion, they have bled during air travel, to my immense distress, inking clothing and skin. I spent months reviewing the topic of reservoir vents, in the hope of finding a solution to this vexing problem. The world of vents turned out to be exquisitely fascinating. In the end by considering surface tension and geometry I devised a solution. Would anybody skilled in micro-fabrication be willing to collaborate on experiments to support a patent, and then seek a deal with Pilot?
