TELEMEDICINE KIOSKS IN PHARMACIES ARE LOGICAL and make sense, for triaging minor ailments and avoiding the overuse of the ED. It is also one step closer to a Doc-In-A-Box, which is also logical. Can Medicine be reduced to sophisticated algorithms and a set of hypotheses based on physical data points? I think the answer still is yes. But our discomfort with the answer has less to do with feasibility than the hunan factor. Many older patients see a doctor for psychological reassurance, for non-medical reasons, and no machine can replace that, including telemetry.
