MENTORS COUNT for early stage entrepreneurs, and can really make the difference between success and failure, if you choose carefully. Also, with the odds stacked against you (the oft quoted stat that 90% of VC investments fail). if that happens, be prepared. If you have the temperament, get back on that horse and learn from your first mistakes. Write an analysis of what worked and what did not. Share that with a mentor and discuss.
