BRAIN HYBRIDS: Ways of knowing are likely different between species. A cockroach will have a different sensate and problem solving set of skills than a baboon or an octopus. A bat and a whale rely on radar signals to inform them of their world. Homing pigeons have some GPS machinery. The household cat has a brain partly dominated by its olfactory system. STEM CELLS FOR STROKE, new advance on recovery of memory deficits following stroke in mice following stem cell treatment. Six stroke patients in a different recent study showed modest improvements when injected with a different brew of stem cells, but no adverse effects. BACK PAIN reduced in 80% of longer term sufferers with disk problems after 100 day course of antibiotics in a clinical trail. Lumbar surgeries have a high rate of undesirable repeat surgeries, meaning the first intervention was not successful. Back pain is notoriously hard to treat without side effects.
