How do you know your innovation has bern successful? Customers have bought it. That simple. Be eager to find early surrogate or predictive measures of outcomes, such as detailed customer surveys. ENTREPRENEURS OFTEN HAVE LIMITED DATA POINTS for making key decisions. Large companies famously over-study decisions because they have a tough tine culturally making big decisions without sufficient data. Most startups work at the cutting edge of the world and data usually does not exist to make entireky rational decisions. SMARTS IS NOT ENOUGH: PERSONALITY IS AS IMPORTANT FOR ENTREPRENEURS. The first big hurdle in the maturing process of entrepreneurs is getting the requisite education, although some very exceptional people can sidestep that. But the biggest item that is a deal-breaker is personality. By that I mean ethics, focus, follow-through and ability to relate. Without these, if you do become an entrepreneur, it will be a very bumpy ride. Remember, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time.
