KNOWLEDGE INDEPENDENT. “An important hypothesis for whole brain emulation is that in order to emulate the brain we do not need to understand the whole system, but rather we just need a database containing all necessary low‐level information about the brain and knowledge of the local update rules that change brain states from moment to moment.” https://lnkd.in/dk2NAB5 View in LinkedIn

EMULATION. “According to the Church‐Turing thesis, a Turing machine can emulate any other Turing machine. The physical Church‐Turing thesis claims that every physically computable function can be computed by a Turing machine. This is the basis for brain emulation: if brain activity is regarded as a function that is physically computed by brains, then it should be possible to compute it on a Turing machine.” https://lnkd.in/dk2NAB5 View in LinkedIn

IMMENSE CHALLENGE. “WBE represents a formidable engineering and research problem, yet one which appears to have a well‐defined goal and could, it would seem, be achieved by extrapolations of current technology. This is unlike many other suggested radically transformative technologies like artificial intelligence where we do not have any clear metric of how far we are from success.” (WBE = Whole Brain Emulation). https://lnkd.in/dk2NAB5 View in LinkedIn

“WHOLE BRAIN EMULATION (WBE), or "computable brains" by Anders Sandberg and " "Nick Bostrom, of the Future of Humanity Institute, Faculty of Philosophy & James Martin 21st Century School Oxford University. "Such emulation would enable back‐up copies and “digital immortality”. https://lnkd.in/dk2NAB5 View in LinkedIn

BRAIN UPLOADING. “Harvard’s Lichtman was more comfortable speculating on the concept. “I am not sure any new laws of physics have to be invented as they go forward. It’s not completely impossible, like the idea of putting a cow head on a dog. It’s a science-fiction idea, but making a brain of silicon does not seem crazy to me.” https://lnkd.in/diNvN_w View in LinkedIn

HISTORIC wet-lab experiments in gene editing, chimeras or brain research form a contextual backdrop for investigations into brain uploading. The key issue is that fully understanding how any of these things work, is simply not required in order to perform these experiments successfully; this is a pedantic myth of the naysayers. PROJECT AVATAR. "By 2025, Itskov expects an “autonomous life-support system for the human brain linked to a robot." In other words, they'll have the tech for implanting the human brain into the robot. By 2035, a human should be able to upload their brain into a robot, and by 2045 our bodies will be replaced with holograms. When this happens, Itskov says we will become "a new species.” https://lnkd.in/dyCbwDs View in LinkedIn
