SUBSURFACE SECONDARY PARTICLES. “Upon interaction with a planetary atmosphere or surface, Galactic cosmic rays produce a cascade of secondary particles that include electrons, positrons, gamma rays, neutrons and muons. Muons can travel several kilometres deep below the surface depending on their energy.
