SO ENDS this second and last weekend on an article about cancer and the cellular clock. Since circadian rhythms control a great number of cellular and behavioral events, dysfunctional clocks will inevitably have a plethora of effects, and contributing to initiating oncogenesis is no surprise. However, the evidence presented here and elsewhere show this dysfunction at a molecular and genetic level of granularity. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn

CORRELATION. “The complex network of communication between the circadian clock and tumorigenesis is only beginning to be unraveled (Fig. 3). At the foundation is strong epidemiological evidence that implicates circadian disruption with cancer.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn

RX TIMING. “This so-called ‘chronotherapy’ has been recently reviewed in depth, and evidence strongly supports the idea that metabolic and xenobiotic detoxification enzymes exhibit temporal peaks in activity and thus should be pharmacologically targeted based on optimal time of day.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn

TREATMENT ISSUE. “The multiple connections discussed here between clock disruption and cancer beg the question of whether circadian therapeutic intervention (such as time of day) should be considered for treatment of cancer.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn

RECYCLING CLOCK. “Also, it is possible that tumor-dependent metabolic waste may be secreted in a temporal manner, suggesting peak times of day whereby these metabolic pathways could be targeted pharmacologically.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn

98% OF THE QUARK IS ENERGY. “The two up quarks and the single down quark that comprise the proton in the simplest picture account only for a few per cent of the proton mass, the bulk of which is in the form of quark kinetic and potential energy and gluon energy from the strong force.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03282-z View in LinkedIn

THESIS. “Given the fundamental role of the circadian clock in regulating metabolism, including pathways involved in carbohydrate, amino acid, and fatty acid and lipid metabolism, it is plausible that the circadian clock may be involved in regulating these processes in the context of cancer.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-018-0271-8?fbclid=IwAR01C2Z4J5lxVYDLhxIb9dPb3fhNSZSxwimZvhHaJ4n3-nVPpkt2PNqoukk View in LinkedIn
