VIETNAMESE VENTURE FUNDS ARE SEEKING COMPANIES, and join the growing list of countries pouring money into young tech companies to stimulate their economies and create jobs. Most of these investments require in-country facilities. This is true for Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, UAE, the UK, many US states, and others. This hurdle is often a negative factor for a foreign company because of the demands of earlier investors. If this requirement was relaxed, in the form of enabling a research facility, or a subsidiary to be formed in the new country, it could be more attractive for emerging companies. http://yourviet.blogspot.com View in LinkedIn

GENERIC DRUGS DRIVE DOWN BRAND PRICES ONLY WHEN THE IP EXPIRES, OR IS OVERTURNED. This data is hardly new. When the innovator IP has expired on a drug, the first to file generic drug typically enter the market, with 190 day exclusivity and drives down the innovator price, and gaining market share. When that exclusivity is over, several generics launch and the price erodes considerably. This is the life cycle of the Pharma industry, and its two segments: brand and generic. Today, as soon as a new drug is launched, generic companies start preparing formulations to be first to file. http://lnkd.in/zKDD8q View in LinkedIn

AMERICAN HEALTHCARE NEEDS A DOCTOR. When about half of bankruptcies in the US are due to medical costs, and a big chunk of the population cannot afford health insurance, the picture is grim. For one of the wealthiest nations on the planet, this makes a big statement. That doctors are fighting any efforts to change this broken system comes as no surprise, because they are key stakeholders, along with insurance companies and healthcare delivery enterprises that stand to experience the greatest change. http://lnkd.in/6C-R7a View in LinkedIn

WHY WE HAVE PERMITTED WIDESPREAD USE OF ANTIBIOTICS IN LIVESTOCK REARING is an anathema to me. Equally, they have been over-utilized in medicine. Everybody has been aware of the dangers of overexposure to antibiotics, namely the formation of drug resistant strains. Well, we are now facing the consequences of our lax behavior. It is going to be challenging to bridge the unmet need given the time it takes to develop and test a new drug. The FDA may need to develop a fast-track pathway to help solve this challenge. COMPANY CULTURE IS ALWAYS GENERATED FROM THE TOP DOWN. I have visited many hundreds of small companies, and within minutes of walking in i can tell a lot about the character of the leadership. It shows itself in numerous subtle and not subtle ways: the ambiance, the greeting, decor, notices posted, even the physical layout. The CEO always sets the tone, for better or for worse. http://lnkd.in/sSdQ36 View in LinkedIn
