AUTOLOGOUS BIOSKIN has been a field of active investigation especially for patients with severe burns. The approach is simple: take a sample of the patient's skin and culture it up in sheets suitable to cover the damaged skin. The main challenges have been to replicate the order of the sebaceous glands and the anatomic complexity of skin. It is probably only a matter of time until these issues are adequately resolved.
