DOLLY was a significant (and applauded) breakthrough, but that was nothing like the first creation of artificial life (Venter). Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to be cloned giving an identical twin (1996), and blasted the way for other species to be cloned. Mammoths will be next from frozen remains. Humans have not been experimentally cloned, except in the unusual case of the UK three parent embryo to avoid mitochondrial defects.
