BACTERIAL COMMUNICATION. “Under natural growth conditions, bacteria can utilize intricate communication capabilities (e.g., quorum sensing, chemotactic signaling and plasmid exchange) to cooperatively form (self-organize) complex colonies with elevated adaptability — the colonial pattern is collectively engineered according to the environmental conditions.” https://lnkd.in/dTVhrsr View in LinkedIn

TRAVELING SALESMAN PROBLEM SOLVED using bacterial foraging algorithm. “Travelling salesman problem (TSP) is one of the most intensively studied problems in computational mathematics. It is a standard test bed for new algorithmic ideas. The proposed work is computation of chemotaxis, where a bacterium takes steps over the foraging landscape in order to reach the regions with high-nutrient content. If a bacterium does not encounter a city within the minimum distance constraint in its first step, then it searches for another city by taking another step and so on.“ https://lnkd.in/d5PS8VA View in LinkedIn

BACTERIAL COGNITION. “New functional features that support the foundation of cognition appear at every level of colonial self-organization — from the internal cellular gel to the growth of the colony as a whole — thus facilitating a high level of functional complexity.”" "(Chapter 10) https://lnkd.in/dH829kt View in LinkedIn

SUM IS GREATER THAN ITS PARTS. “Swarm intelligence, now-a-days has become a research focus which studies the collective behavior existing among the natural species which lives in group. Bacteria Foraging Optimization (BFO) is an optimization algorithm based on the social intelligence behavior of E.coli bacteria.” https://lnkd.in/d7qV-kS View in LinkedIn

SYMBIOSIS. “An unusual intraspecies temporary mutualism facilitates the spreading of both species. While P. vortex transporting fungal conidia with his swarming masses, the fungi bridges air gaps with its mycelia and allows bacteria to traverse these and colonize new niches.”" "(Chapter 10) https://lnkd.in/dH829kt View in LinkedIn

FRAGMENT FROM NATURE contemplates communication and cooperation among bacteria. Often dismissed as simple organisms, bacteria are still poorly appreciated. One trait common to every single life form is the ability to communicate, within its own species and with other species, in cases of collaboration, or at least be able to eavesdrop on the chatter of other species such as prey. Communication as a part of the definition of life has so far not made the list, but should be added. View in LinkedIn

INTRASPECIES RELATIONS. “P. vortex contains two subpopulations with different locations and functions, that contribute to creation of complex pattern colonies. The coexistence of two subpopulations within P. vortex colonies allows flexibility and adjustment to heterogeneous environments including other microorganisms such as fungi.”" "(Chapter 10) https://lnkd.in/dH829kt View in LinkedIn

P. VORTEX BACTERIA. “Its information processing abilities are supported by exceptionally high number of communication related genes (two-component system (TCS), transcription factors (TFs), transport and defense related genes) suggesting a high “Bacterial Social Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Score”.”" "(Chapter 10) https://lnkd.in/dH829kt View in LinkedIn
