COLLISION HISTORY. “Galactic collisions have been common and Andromeda previously collided with at least one other galaxy. New research suggests that our galaxy was shaped by a merger with a dwarf galaxy dubbed ‘Gaia-Enceladus’ ten billion years ago and dwarf galaxies such as the ‘Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal’ galaxy are currently colliding and merging into the Milky Way galaxy.” https://lnkd.in/dhrW--56 View in LinkedIn

COLLIDING GALAXIES. “On the contrary, galaxies within matter superclusters are predicted to collide. In Laniakea, the Milky Way Andromeda galaxies are predicted to collide in 4.5 billion years based on data from the Hubble Space Telescope. The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies will begin to distort each other with tidal pull in 3.75 billion years. The resulting amalgamated galaxy, has been nicknamed Milkomeda or Milkdromeda.” https://lnkd.in/dhrW--56 View in LinkedIn
