GOOD FARMING PRACTICES. "The approach to food safety in the European Union, producing natural products with high hygiene standards throughout the entire process, rather than a chemical treatment at the end of the process, is deeply anchored in our European food culture and therefore we strongly support it." http://www.naturalnews.com/046175_chlorine_chicken_trade_deal_european_union.html%23 View in LinkedIn

CHLORINE WASH BANS. "Whilst the use of chlorine is banned in some countries it is also not permitted for use in organic produce. Furthermore the EU also had a ban in place on the chlorine treatment of chickens. For over ten years the ban has prevented imports of chickens treated with chlorine to reduce levels of pathogens on such poultry." http://lnkd.in/d4T4Ghy View in LinkedIn

SLOPPY PRACTICES. "Since 1996, US chickens cannot be sold in the EU because of a European ban on ... dipping carcasses in baths of chlorine or similar solutions to disinfect them. The EU says this method is too radical and not necessary if, throughout the production chain, bacteria are not allowed develop. "We feel the treatment opens the door to becoming sloppy during production," http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-203477048.html View in LinkedIn

CHLORINE in water purification has been my focus for the last series of blogs, and I have kept on with this topic because it is pretty important, so bear with me. Chlorine is also used extensively, in some countries, for disinfecting poultry, meat, eggs, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The next series will look at these issues. We live in a chlorinated world. POSTER CHILD. "The chlorinated chicken became a poster child of consumer campaign groups against the TTIP and raised suspicion of the European public against the TTIP. Clorinated poultry is a top priority of the United States trade administration and former Commissioner Verheugen already had indicated concessions in the TEC talk rounds which he could not politically enact." http://acta.ffii.org/?p=2029 View in LinkedIn

They rank: permanganate (Score of 14, high number is best), ozone (11), chloramine (10), ozone/peroxide (9), chlorine or chloramine (5), ozone (3). These parameter rankings do not weight the parameters. NB. Not including any bio methods. http://lnkd.in/d46ur_y View in LinkedIn
