A GINGIVITIS TREATMENT USING IMPLANTED GUM CELLS is coming out of Organogenesis in Massachusetts. Interestingly, this does not correct the underlying pathogenesis but just the tissue defect. It will be interesting to see how durable this fix is. View in LinkedIn

THERE ARE ~4,000 SPOOF ACADEMIC JOURNALS TODAY, in the guise of Open Access, thriving on subscription fees and sidestepping peer-review. Matched with the Publish-or-Perish pressures on young academics, this is perhaps not surprising. These shady operators mimic the names of respected academic journals, and charge authors a fee to publish without any review.
