Our two enormous universes of space are outer space and inner space, and in many ways we have made more progress exploring the former. I am always mindful of our profound ignorance of dark matter in the inner space, and of our somewhat quaint views of what contains our outer space. His view is that life forms are DNA driven software devices; the genetic code has four bases, and the digital code two letter: they are very similar, he believes. If successful in creating new life using banks of computers, Craig will have opened a door to powerful goals of genetic engineering, including manufacturing biofuels in bugs and making bugs that eat toxins. This is most akin to buying publicly traded stock in a company like Genentech.
