CHEMISTRY OF INFORMATION. “Supramolecular chemistry has developed as the chemistry of the entities generated by intermolecular noncovalent interactions. Through the appropriate manipulation of these interactions, it became progressively the chemistry of molecular information, involving the storage of information at the molecular level, in the structural features, and its retrieval, transfer, and processing at the supramolecular level, by interactional algorithms operating through molecular recognition events based on well-defined interaction patterns (hydrogen bonding arrays, sequences of donor and acceptor groups, ion coordination sites, etc.).”
