DORMANT CODE. “During a mode of viral reproduction termed “lysogenic”, viruses such as bacteriophages integrate their genome into the host’s genome and become dormant. When such viruses convert back to the lytic (aggressive) mode of reproduction, they excise themselves from the genome.”
