New research suggests that our galaxy was shaped by a merger with a dwarf galaxy dubbed ‘Gaia-Enceladus’ ten billion years ago and dwarf galaxies such as the ‘Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal’ galaxy are currently colliding and merging into the Milky Way galaxy.”
