RECENT BIOTERRORISM II. Aum Shinrikyo members used sprayers on two occasions and disseminated anthrax for four days. It also conducted two attacks against the Diet and the Imperial Palace and the Tokyo Tower. In 1994, Aum Shinrikyo used a car fitted with a sarin dispenser to attempt to kill three judges hearing a case against the cult. LOW FREQUENCY TARGETED BIO SABOTAGE. "Biological agents could cause workers at a specific plant or country to get ill, die or otherwise behave erratically at a frequency low enough to be mistaken as a naturally occurring phenomenon." BIOWARFARE IN WWII. "During the war, the Japanese army poisoned more than 1,000 water wells in Chinese villages to study cholera and typhus outbreaks. Japanese planes dropped plague-infested fleas over Chinese cities or distributed them by means of saboteurs in rice fields and along roads. JAPANESE ARMY UNIT 731 "did research on BW, conducted often fatal human experiments on prisoners, and produced biological weapons for combat use. Biological weapons were used against both Chinese soldiers and civilians in several military campaigns. In 1940, the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force bombed Ningbo with ceramic bombs full of fleas carrying the bubonic plague. UNPUNISHED WAR CRIMES. "After the war, the Soviets convicted some of the Japanese biowarfare researchers for war crimes, but the USA granted freedom to all researchers in exchange for information on their human experiments. In this way, war criminals once more became respected citizens, and some went on to found pharmaceutical companies.
