"After the use of mercury fungicides in agriculture had been banned in 1966 in Sweden, a similar ban was instituted in 1970 in the United States, spurred by media reports. The first safety evaluation of methylmercury in fish took place in Sweden in 1968. In the United States, a permitted food mercury limit was already in use in 1970."" THE DANCE OF DEATH has been performed every year on Maundy Thursday since the European Black Death in the small Mediaeval Catalan town of Verges. "The Dance of Death group comprises ten people, divided into groups of five. The five dancers – two adults and three children – are dressed as skeletons and carry symbolic objects: a scythe, flag, clock without hands and plates of ash.
