"CCAC recommends that chloramine be removed from the water supply. The SFPUC should discontinue the use of chloramine as a water disinfectant until the appropriate scientific studies are done to test the safety of chloramine as a water treatment option." http://www.chloramine.org/chloraminefacts.htm View in LinkedIn

ACTIVATED CARBON TREATMENT AT MUNICIPALITIES is not rocket science. What is the problem about implementing this simple system and stopping carcinogens in our drinking water? The reality is that we need at least two systems to cover the bases. This is not difficult. It is outrageous that this is not routinely done. http://lnkd.in/da9fJjH View in LinkedIn

CARBON WORKHORSE. "Solid carbon block filters effectively treat the age-old contaminants of yesteryear, such as lead, TCE, chlorine, benzene and “new” contaminants found in the nation’s drinking water supplies today like MTBE, chloramines and PCBs." http://thewaterfilterladysblog.com/water-filter-comparisons/ View in LinkedIn

ANOTHER ACTIVATED CARBON SYSTEM. "AquaCarb® CX Series carbons have the high microporous structure of coconut shell-based carbon combined with the faster kinetics of bituminous coal-based carbons and exhibit a higher adsorption capacity than coal-based carbon for surface water treatment, with greater throughput before carbon breakthrough." http://lnkd.in/dvw6MzH View in LinkedIn

ACTIVATED CARBON TREATMENT AT MUNICIPALITIES COULD HELP. "GAC can be utilized to remove organic precursurs of DBPs, or adsorb the DBPs themselves. For surface water treatment (precursor or DBP removal), coal-based carbons have been the traditional product choice." http://lnkd.in/dvw6MzH View in LinkedIn

HOME-BASED water treatments, the logical solution to our findings, are neither straightforward nor are without the quacking of competing, and often false, claims. Yet what we have collectively been through to get here (and the end is not yet in sight, sorry), demands some answers. Soldier on with guarded optimism, my friends. View in LinkedIn

DPB REMOVAL. "Biologically active filters resulted in removing some DOC (25%), DON (18%) and—to a lesser extent—UVA (12%). Removal of THM precursors through the filtration process was low (3%), while the removal of precursors (relative to what was found by DBPFP testing of ozonated water) for trihaloacetaldehydes, chloropicrin and NDMA was high (55, 75 and 67%, respectively)." http://rsta.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/367/1904/4077.full View in LinkedIn
