MX BY WHO (2004). A 48 hour LD50 of 230 mg/kg BW was established, with toxicological symptoms at over 200 mg/kg doses. 64 mg/kg in rats for four days caused significant liver enzyme changes and increased blood cholesterol. It is an extremely potent mutagen, and has genotoxic effects in vitro. It was tumorigenic in a 13 week rat study. The effects in man “remain an open question.”
