ORCHID FUNGUS MIMESIS. “The floral parts of these flowers simulate fungi and emit mushroom-like odors. Fungus gnats are misled by a suite of cues so that they lay their eggs in the flower and pollinate it in the process. The flowers are inedible so the larvae eventually starve to death.”
