Galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) are charged particles, mostly protons, originating beyond the Solar System. They have relatively lower flux but possess much higher energy than other radiation sources on Earth, and have noteworthy biological effects on terrestrial life and possibly on extrasolar planets.”
