THEORY CRITICAL. “In general, one cannot observe the dense matter directly, but the observations of stellar properties like mass, radius and cooling behaviour have to be interpreted using theoretical models in order to constrain the equation of state of stellar matter. In order to calculate strong interaction matter relevant for compact stars as well as heavy-ion physics we have developed and studied hadronic and hadron-quark models within the so-called chiral mean field (CMF) approach.”
