EVERY GALAXY HAS ONE. “According to the current paradigm, galaxies are surrounded by extensive dark matter halos, and galaxies can grow in size when they come close enough to other galaxies for the dark matter to induce a merger. Many galaxies are also known to contain a supermassive black hole (SBH) at their center, and it is commonly assumed that SBHs are universally present in early-type galaxies and in the bulges of disk galaxies, at least for galaxies above a certain mass.”
