HYDROGEN ENVELOPE. “Our work poses the question of what happens to a WD in an eccentric orbit around a BH that has already lost its hydrogen envelope in a runaway fusion event. The absence of a hydrogen envelope will change the behaviour of gravity waves near the surface of the WD and may reduce tidal dissipation.” (WD = white dwarf; BH = black hole).
