QUASAR LUMINOSITY AND HOST HALO. “In this work, we investigate a physical origin for the difference in the shapes of the QLF and the HMF. Specifically, we look at the role stochasticity (or scatter) plays in determining the shape of the QLF. Then, we investigate constraints on feedback processes, AGN/galaxy quenching and local clustering that are set by the amount of scatter in the quasar luminosity versus halo mass relation.” (AGN = active galactic nuclei; QLF = quasar luminosity function; HMF = halo mass function).
