MEMORY CODE. “Polynucleotides are synthesized at rates ranging from 10 to 100 nucleotides/s. Because there are 4 nucleotides, each successive location in a string of nucleotides can carry 2 bits of information. Thus, an n-bit polynucleotide numeron could be generated in roughly n centi-seconds. A 21-bit polynucleotide can encode slightly more than 2,000,000 biochemically distinguishable numerons.”
