SO ENDS this one weekend posting on the butterfly effect applied to physiologic chaotic phenomena that are underpinned by simple rules. Biologists have been slow to adopt this powerful concept for phenomena such as hives, swarms and population dynamics, but it is assuredly at play in these seemingly chaotic systems.
