FRAGMENT FROM NATURE considers the subject of topographic scale in nature. Judging from the complete paucity of literature on the subject, biologists appear rather oblivious of the issue of scale, and this partly explains why the vast majority of biological investigations are earth-centric and pre-Copernican.
