"VIRUSES are primarily a set of instructions, which execute over time on some hardware. Viruses are based on algorithms, which essentially represent a pattern in time. Viruses are not entities that survive on their own, but rather rely on a host entity to execute and reproduce. In most cases, the host entity is a computer on which the virus resides and propagates." https://lnkd.in/dSdcD2A View in LinkedIn

DEFINITION OF COMPUTER VIRUS: "a virus as a piece of code with two characteristics: 1. At least a partially automated capability to reproduce. 2. A method of transfer which is dependent on its ability to attach itself to other computer entities (programs, disk sectors, data files, etc.) that move between these systems.” https://lnkd.in/eCG7b3z View in LinkedIn

"INTRUSIVE VIRUSES operate by overwriting some or all of the original host code with viral code. The replacement might be selective, as in replacing a subroutine with the virus, or inserting a new interrupt vector and routine. The replacement may also be extensive, as when large portions of the host program are completely replaced by the viral code." https://lnkd.in/eCG7b3z View in LinkedIn

"LIVING ORGANISMS are very complicated aggregations of elementary parts, and by any reasonable theory of probability or thermodynamics highly improbable. That they should occur in the world at all is a miracle of the first magnitude; the only thing which removes, or mitigates, this miracle is that they reproduce themselves. Therefore, if by any peculiar accident there should ever be one of them, from there on the rules of probability do not apply, and there will be many of them, at least if the milieu is reasonable. INFORMATION INCREASE. "If we express this complexity in terms of its improbability, defining the amount of genetic information as the negative logarithm of its probability of occurrence by chance, we may say that genetic information is increased in the course of progressive evolution, guided by natural selection of random mutations." https://lnkd.in/eGfBzxS View in LinkedIn

BITS OF INFORMATION. "For simplicity, let’s say that each gene is either suppressed, or not, in the epigenome. That would be a binary choice for each gene. Most humans have between 20,000 and 25,000 genes. Let’s say the average is about 2^22,500 more choices. Therefore human DNA genome encodes 4^(3 billion) = 2^(6 billion) choices, or 6 billion bits of information. The epigenome encodes at least 2^22,500 choices, or 22,500 bits. The total information is 6,000,022,500 bits, or approximately 6 Gb (gigabits)." https://lnkd.in/eq-g674 View in LinkedIn
