MOLECULAR WORDS. “Quorum sensing is a well-studied method of communication-based cooperation using bacterial sensing faculties. Many bacterial species use quorum sensing molecules to switch the expression of a variety of genes once the species density exceeds a critical threshold (e.g., virulence genes, and competence versus sporulation decision circuits).”" "(Chapter 10). https://lnkd.in/dH829kt View in LinkedIn

BACTERIAL COMMUNICATION. “Under natural growth conditions, bacteria can utilize intricate communication capabilities (e.g., quorum sensing, chemotactic signaling and plasmid exchange) to cooperatively form (self-organize) complex colonies with elevated adaptability — the colonial pattern is collectively engineered according to the environmental conditions.” https://lnkd.in/dTVhrsr View in LinkedIn

TRAVELING SALESMAN PROBLEM SOLVED using bacterial foraging algorithm. “Travelling salesman problem (TSP) is one of the most intensively studied problems in computational mathematics. It is a standard test bed for new algorithmic ideas. The proposed work is computation of chemotaxis, where a bacterium takes steps over the foraging landscape in order to reach the regions with high-nutrient content. If a bacterium does not encounter a city within the minimum distance constraint in its first step, then it searches for another city by taking another step and so on.“ https://lnkd.in/d5PS8VA View in LinkedIn

DIRECTING EVOLUTION. “Our newfound ability to write the code of life will profoundly change the world as we know it.” According to Enriquez, because we as humans can engineer both our environment and ourselves, humanity is now breaking the “boundaries” of our own natural existence and development which, of course, is described as “Darwinian evolution". http://www.activistpost.com/2011/11/genetically-modifying-new-human-species.html View in LinkedIn

TECHNOLOGY. "It will change even basic questions like sex. There used to be one way to have a baby. Now there are at least 17. We have decoupled sex from time. You can have a baby in nine months, or you can freeze sperm or a fertilized egg and implant it in 10 years or 100 years. You can create an animal from one of its cells. You can begin to alter reproductive cells. By the time you put this together, you’ve fundamentally changed how you reproduce and the rules for reproduction."
